UPDATE

I have created a provisional colour chart, I'm sorry if it doesn't include any changes since we last talked about colours. Its just to get a grasp of what we all want. If you send me colour swatches I'll use a drippy thing to copy it and put it into the box (if that makes sense hehe) email me patz83@hotmail.co.uk OR send on facebook :-).
PS sorry i forgot you Shane and had to add a teeny tiny block at the bottom lol!

ALSO - we need to decide whether we are going to make or order letters ASAP because if we did want to order them (I know Chris wasn't in favour of that) then we need to order them YESTERDAY!!

Lettering...

Hi All!

In addition to what Heather posted about lettering, i went onto look at some maybe cheaper options of lettering also. I found a company which is Chelmsford based, just round the corner from Saoirse i believe! They are called fast signs, and they actually make the Vinyl lettering i was thinking of. As ready-to-apply lettering, i don't know how everyone feels about the use of a sticker like method, but they do make them look professional.

They also do illuminations on signs and many other things which could come in handy for other parts of the exhibition maybe. I have quoted them asking what sort of prices we are looking at, and i'll let you know when they get back to me, alternatively failing that i'll just pop down there and ask. For now here is the website to check it out ; - Fastsigns550.tru-m.com/Custom-Labels

Thanks!

So......just to go over what we decided today:
○PLAIN WHITE BOARDS
○DIAGRAMATIC MAP
○EVERYONE ASSIGNED AN INDIVIDUAL COLOUR TO SHOW ON MAP AND NAME ON BOARD
○LIGHTBULB INSTALLATION
○BOX WITHIN A BOX LAYOUT (however we need to find out how many boards/how much wall space to agree on final configuration)
○HAYLEY AND JON TO DO MAP
○JANET TO DO CAD LAYOUT OF EXHIBITION
○HEATHER FINANCE
○CHLOE LOOKING UP LETTERS
○SAM TO INVESTIGATE LIGHTS (she has a contact...)
○MOST PEOPLE WOULD LIKE THE SILHOUETTES
○£300 BUDGET (£20 each) BUT AIM FOR LESS
○MOTTO - "CREATIVELY COLOURFUL" (or something to that effect)

I think that covers most of it, we all seem to be on pretty much the same page with this luckily!!!

BIG letters

These could look cool for the entrance of our exhibition stand>   This is the RCA show a few years ago.

I have sourced them from a place in Birmingham - they are formed Polystyrene so extremely light
( very un environmentally friendly - yet  they are BRITISH! )

They are expensive

I was given an approximate price for an S  or a D.
A 1200mm high letter 100mm thick will cost £60 plus vat   delivery is £25 plus vat
A 2m high letter will cost around £100  plus vat  but have to be collected any volunteers to drive to Birmingham.
A small 30cm high letter costs just 2.50.
Lead time just 2-3 days

I am thinking we could have just one and perhaps paint another
and create the other from tape as suggested by Hayley.

The other option is we make from blue styrofoam and cut ourselves. 75mm   600 x 1219mm  block cost 45.99 free delivery

75mm - 600 x 1219mm £45.99

W would cost double as it would come from 2 sheets.

These are the pages from my note book during today's (30/04/12) meeting regarding the presentation of our third year exhibition.
The ideas disscussed were based around representing the third year interiors as a group and the colabrative dynamic that has been so strong in the studio. We wanted to show us as a diverse, colourful group of creative people and also our location and then spread out away from this into our individual projects.
More ideas to be worked on Thursday.
