Chelmsford Arts Trail
I hope you all have a great day today, exploring installations and exhibition spaces! Make sure you record the experience, sketch, draw, take photographs and write your thoughts. We will follow this up with a studio activity.
Enjoyed the bits of the art trail I saw this morning - I want the giant polar bear in central libray and a brilliant picture of a black guy shouting at Interior Angle. Is £1200 too much to speend on a birthday present? That was for the picture not thepoalr bear... Also shared my experience of spam emails with the guy at Interior angle, should we go for a bought PhD, a penis extension, viagra or settle for a fake rolex, all of which we are assured will make my life complete - I'd settle for the painting!
I agree only bits appealed to me. Loved the ethos of The shiny shed my particular favourite being the paint by numbers cat art - does that count? trying to work out how to upload a quicktime movie - does anyone know???
What a beautiful day for following the Chelmsford Arts Trail 2010!
Met up with M&M (Michelle & Michelle) at the Chelmsford Museum to see the Silks of Life exhibition, a stunning collection of Chinese textiles, (and even some dressing up clothes which we tried on:)
Working our way down Moulsham Street, we saw some impressive displays from local artists and designers such as Kymberly O'Carroll-Fitzpatrick, Terri Potter, Madeleine Maskell, Melinda Berkovitz, Rebecca Freeman, Sara Sherwood, Susan Hilton, Clive Wakeford and Georgia Coote.
Among my favourites seen today were Susan Hilton (on display at Truly Madly Vintage) who cleverly juxtaposes miscellaneous found objects into new art forms, and Madeleine Maskell (at Franklins) with her colourful, retro, Carnaby Street-inspired canvases.
Too bad we had to be back at the Studio by 1.30pm, as I'm sure there were many other fascinating things to see. May have to nip into town again on Saturday and see some more!!
Later on we were invited to meet the other members of WSD for nibbles and drinks - a great way to end a superb day!
I visited Moulsham Street for the Chelmsford Arts Trail 2010. I was really surprised at the amount of artists taking part and exhibiting their work in the local shops.
I really loved the work of Susan Hilton, Artist and Sculptor. Her work was exhibited in Truly Madly Vintage a fantastic clothes shop that really takes you back in time and well worth a visit www.trulymadlyvintage.com. Anyway, back to Susan Hilton, she makes the most amazing collage pictures out of scrap bits and bobs – vinyl records with buttons on, a horse bridle with keys and coins and so much more…..
