Over the weekend I did a little research into the Chelmsford trail....and was interested to find that this steel sculpture or example of 'public art' by Jane Addison was included. I have walked past it before and loved the ornate design of it, just never really fully understood what it meant!
Now I know it was designed and made to symbolise those trades that once thrived in Chelmsford years ago. I also like the fact that Addison had her design handmade my Blacksmiths, which makes the overall effect of this piece a lot more meaningful.....
Oh wow! I have actually walked past this over a hundred times and never had any idea whatsoever! That is pretty interesting, nice one Clo!
